Portugal
This could be your next unforgettable destination
Portugal has long taken an enlightened approach to LGBTQ+ rights, with same-sex marriage being legalised back in 2010. Travellers seeking sun, sea and sand tend to make a beeline for the Algarve and it’s a great destination for families too, with activities including go-karting, aqua parks, dolphin-watching expeditions, horse-riding and mini golf.
Elsewhere, adventurous travellers should head to the country’s only national park, Peneda-Gerês, home of white-water rafting and world-class canyoning. Cycle along the Roman aqueduct in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Evora, or take a tram and tour around the bustling capital of Lisbon – teenagers will love the street art on display throughout the city. Treat them to a Pastéis de Nata to keep them sweet.
Elle Says:
If you’re looking for a romantic stay, rather than an LGBTQ+ family holiday, let us know. While Porto’s a great destination for grown-up culinary adventures, go further afield for a wine tour around the Douro Valley, one of the world’s oldest demarcated wine regions.
If you have any questions about this destination, then let me know. I can help you plan a holiday here and give you recommendations that you may not have thought of!
