Mauritius
This could be your next unforgettable destination
Mauritius is not just an island for honeymooners seeking time by the ocean. There is so much to do here for families! While LGBTQ+ rights still need to come on leaps and bounds (it’s illegal for men to be homosexual but legal for women), a holiday with the kids is still a possibility if you talk to us for the best advice.
Aside from the swaying palms, stunning sandy beaches and that oh-so-blue lagoon, families can mountain bike through forests, hike to waterfalls and take a dip in natural pools. There are some amazing family hotels on the island (you can pre-order bottle warmer, cots and prams), great kids’ clubs and cool attractions, too.
You can take photos of yourself on the ceiling of an upside-down room at Curious Corner of Chamarel or skim along the water on a catamaran, keeping watch for leaping dolphins. The time difference is also fairly minimal, making it a great long-haul choice for those needing to consider nap times.
Elle Says:
Wellness and golf are big news on the island. There are some stunning spas in luxury hotels and numerous championship golf courses to try. One golf course is even on an offshore island!
