India
This could be your next unforgettable destination
In India, your LGBTQ+ family holiday can be a real melting pot of calm and high-energy. You could wander around palaces pretending to be kings or queens (you can even stay in one if that’s the dream) – or head into the jungle on safari, seeing which of you can spot a rare Bengal tiger. Kanha National Park was actually the inspiration for The Jungle Book! There are buzzy cities steeped in culture and history (don’t miss the Taj Mahal, a Wonder of the World) and we highly recommend relaxing on one of Goa’s golden beaches.
Visit the City Palace in Jaipur and watch a puppet show, explore the sights and sounds of Delhi on a private tuk-tuk tour or browse the vibrant (and chaotic!) New Market in Kolkata. Although homosexuality was only made legal in India in 2018, it’s a friendly and welcoming place to visit. There are local customs that you’ll need to follow and public displays of affection are discouraged but, generally, we’d say it’s a safe (and incredible) place to visit as an LGBTQ+ family.
Elle Says:
There’s so much to see in India that it’s no wonder it’s such a popular destination for longer trips. A popular option for couples and solo travellers is to start in Goa and travel all the way up to Delhi.
